Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Get Wild ("Get Wild", the "Service", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Get Wild is
Get Wild relays text messages between a Garmin inReach satellite communicator and an AI assistant. You send a message from your device; we generate a reply using an AI language model and send it back to your device. The Service is provided on a best-effort basis and depends on third parties outside our control.
Get Wild is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Garmin Ltd. References to "Garmin" and "inReach" are made for compatibility purposes only; inReach® is a trademark of Garmin Ltd.
2. Not for emergencies
Get Wild is not an emergency service and must not be relied on in an emergency. If your life, health, or safety is at risk, use the SOS function on your Garmin inReach to contact emergency responders, or contact emergency services by any other available means. We do not monitor messages, cannot guarantee delivery, and cannot summon help.
3. AI output may be wrong — no reliance
Replies are generated by an AI language model. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your situation. When a reply includes live information (such as weather, wildfire activity, or trail and road closures), that information reflects what we could retrieve at the time of the request — it can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and may be superseded between when we send it and when you read it. Do not rely on Get Wild for navigation or route-finding, medical or first-aid decisions, weather, hazard assessment, survival, or any safety-critical decision. Always use your own judgment, qualified training, official sources, and appropriate equipment. You are solely responsible for the decisions you make.
4. Assumption of risk
Wilderness, backcountry, and off-grid travel is inherently dangerous. You knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with your activities and with your use of the Service.
5. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. You are responsible for all activity on your account and for keeping access to your email secure, since sign-in uses a code sent to your email. You agree to provide accurate information.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service unlawfully; to harm, harass, or endanger others; to attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service; or to transmit content that is illegal or abusive. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
7. Message limits and costs
The free plan includes up to 50 messages per account per calendar month. Limits and plans may change. Satellite airtime, your Garmin inReach device, and your Garmin subscription are provided and billed by Garmin, not by us, and are subject to Garmin's own terms.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including Garmin (device and message relay), Anthropic (AI processing and the hosted web search tool used to retrieve live information from third-party sources), and email providers. We do not control these parties and are not responsible for their availability, acts, or omissions.
9. Availability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. Satellite delivery may be delayed or fail entirely.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of life, personal injury, loss of data, or loss of profits, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
